men's tournament format

A record-setting 28 men's teams will compete for the 2023 VLA Cup title!

Friday: Tier 2 Bracket Pools, Tier 1 Placement Matches

20 Tier 2 teams will be seeded into four pools of five teams each: Pools AA, BB, CC, and DD. Each pool will play five matches total on Friday in bracket pool format, with the top two finishing teams advancing to the gold bracket, and the bottom three finishing teams advancing to the silver bracket. See 5-team bracket pool format below.

8 Tier 1 teams will be seeded into four groups of two teams each, groups A, B, C, and D, based on 2022 season finish and avoiding divisional groupings. Each group will play one match on Friday, with all eight teams advancing to the gold bracket.

Saturday-Sunday: Single Elimination Bracket Play

The 16-team gold bracket and 12-team silver bracket will begin single elimination play Saturday morning. Bracket matches and consolation matches will continue leading up to the gold bracket finals Sunday afternoon.

The VLA Women's Division will debut at the 2023 VLA Cup with 8 teams!

Friday: Bracket Pool Play

8 women's teams will be seeded into two pools of four teams each, Pools E and F. Each pool will play four matches total on Friday in bracket pool format, with all four teams from each pool advancing to single elimination bracket play.

Saturday-Sunday: Single Elimination Bracket Play

The 8-team championship bracket will begin single elimination play Saturday afternoon, including the four quarterfinals, two consolation matches, and two semifinals to be played on Saturday. The women's championship match will be played on Sunday.
