VLA Updates

VLA is excited to announce their sponsorship received by Smack Sportswear. Smack Sportswear is no stranger to the Volleyball world and it is only fitting that they will be the official apparel sponsor of the Volleyball League of America. All 5 VLA teams this season will be outfitted with jerseys, shorts, warmups and practice gear all provided by Smack. VLA is also working with Smack to develop an online store in which you will be able to purchase an assortment of VLA league apparel and team apparel. Look for more updates in the coming weeks with more information about our partnership with Smack Sportswear (www.smacksportswear.com)


6'2" Outside Hitter Daniel Jacobs (Ottawa University) and 6'1" Libero CJ Suarez (California State University Northridge) have officially committed to playing the 2020 VLA season with Pheonix, Ascension. Jacobs provides some young talent on the pin for Ascension and Suarez is one of the best Liberos to come out of CSUN the past decade.


Player Signings: LVC

6'8" Middle Blake Leeson (Ohio State University) and 6'7" Setter Christie Blough (Ohio State University) have committed to playing the 2020 VLA season with New York, LVC. Leeson and Blough have been teammates for a number of years, not just with LVC prior to the 2020 season but also in college at OSU.


Player Signings: Pineapple

6'4" Outside Hitter Tomas Goldsmith (UW-Milwaukee/Rutgers) and 6'9" Middle Kevin Owens (Ball State University) have committed to playing the 2020 VLA season with Indiana, Pineapple. Goldsmith has come around as one of the most potent Outside Hitters on the scene the past few years. Kevin Owens has been a tenured player for Pineapple including being a part of their PVL National Championships in 2014 and 2015.

Question: "What do you hope that we accomplish with the creation of the VLA?"

VLA Co-Founder/Pineapple Manager/Setter Lloy Ball: "Team Pineapple and Lloy Ball want the VLA to be a true and sustainable Indoor Volleyball Pro League. A league where US volleyball players can not only continue their high level of play but make a living to support those who have stood behind them in their journey to athletic greatness. The VLA hopes to imitate the successful European pro leagues and hopefully one day surpass them."

Question: "What are your thoughts on the Smack Sponsorship of the VLA?"

Phoenix Ascension Opposite Bryan Lewis: "Smack is already known in the volleyball community as being a popular choice of apparel when it comes to jerseys. Their partnership with the VLA for the 2020 season is great, as it is a good step for the league to have a credible, proven sponsor putting their products on our court."

VLA Updates

VLA is excited to announce their partnership with The Junior Volleyball Association. JVA is an official event partner of the VLA for 2020. The VLA will be playing in 2 JVA sanctioned tournaments, The JVA World Challenge in Louisville, KY April 3-5 and JVA Summerfest in Columbus, Ohio June 6-7. With the JVA partnership, the VLA will have the opportunity to perform in front of over 12,000 Juniors players and parents over both weekends. Its a great opportunity for the league and professional volleyball to gain exposure. (www.jvaonline.org)


Schedule Announcements

11-9-19 VLA will hold their second day of matches. This time VLA teams Pineapple and LVC will play a pair of matches against NCAA powerhouses Penn State and St. Francis University. LVC will consist of 6'8 Middle Lance Rogers (George Mason) and 6'5" Opposite Jordan Varee (St. Francis). Pineapple will have Olympic Gold Medalist 6'8 Setter Lloy Ball (IPFW) and 6'5 Outside/Opposite Bruno Amorim (Brazil). This will be the first VLA competitions for both LVC and Pineapple as they gear up towards the 2020 season.


Player Signings: Ascension

6'4" Opposite Bryan Lewis (Arizona) has officially committed to playing the 2020 VLA season with Pheonix, Ascension. Lewis has been part of of every top level Arizona volleyball team since 2014 and looks to continue being a lethal attacker on the right side in the 2020 season.


Player Signings: LVC

6'5" Opposite Jordan Varee (St. Francis) and 6'8" Middle Lance Rogers (George Mason) have committed to playing the 2020 VLA season with New York, LVC. Both Varee and Rogers are tenured players for LVC and have been key components to LVC being one of the most consistent and dominant clubs in the United States.

Question: "What do you hope that we accomplish with the creation of the VLA?"

VLA Co-Founder/LVC Player/Manager Chris Hosley: "With the creation of the VLA I hope we can accomplish a sustainable domestic volleyball league and begin to keep our best players on American soil. We also want to provide a means to share our experiences and passion for the game with other (fans, adult players, youth players, etc.) Volleyball players are some of the most generous and most fun people around, we want to grow the game and let people know how much we enjoy the sport. I think with our minds and vision we are capable of changing the landscape of professional volleyball in the USA."

VLA Co-Founder/Event Director Coley Pawlikowski: "The VLA to be a platform to provide athletes (domestically and internationally) to play the sport of volleyball at the highest level her on US soil through a sustainable league that is built slowly and methodically scale. Through this platform, the VLA will bring light and attention to the sport of Volleyball domestically cultivating streaming and network opportunities to catapult the reach of the sport nationwide. Provide accessible role models in the sport for our youth to look up to and aspire to be. Entice advertisers, corporations, sponsors and investors to realize the potential through the reach of the sport."

Ascension VS Long Beach

Ascension VS Long Beach

Phoenix Ascension will play the first of a handful of scrimmages involving VLA teams.  Ascension will square off with back to back NCAA Champions California State University Long Beach.  Ascension will feature 6'4" Opposite Bryan Lewis, 6'5" Setter/Outside Joe Kauliakamoa and 6'7" Middle Mark Olsen.


Additional exhibition matches between VLA teams and various college teams ranging from D1 to College club will be announced soon.
